The process is sometimes mysterious: why are there both internal and external recruiters, how do you find a good recruiter, what do recruiters look for in candidates, how do recruiters work with hiring managers?
Kristin Speer, Managing Director at Westwood & Wilshire, will share insights, examples, and advice for candidates working with recruiting agencies and corporate internal recruiters, and for companies using recruiters to leverage their outreach. Special guests from different backgrounds will also share their experiences. You’ll get the inside scoop on the recruiting process, and learn how to make the most of these professional relationships.

She distinguished herself in Korn/Ferry International’s Global Technology Practice, and went on to establish AccelSearch, completing numerous retained executive searches across a variety of C-level roles for both emerging technology startups and global technology companies. Kris earned a double major bachelor’s degree (B.A.S.) from Stanford University in Environmental Earth Sciences and Music, and was elected to the Stanford Cap & Gown Honorary Society. Kris is a board member and the former Board Chair of Redwood Symphony, and loves ballroom dancing
Anuradha Gali, Engineering Leader, Uber
Anu Gali is an Engineering Leader at Uber leading Business Insights. Her team is responsible for Rides/Eats Trip Forecasting, helps business Optimize budget across Operations and Business units and predicts Customer Value across all our users. As a tech leader, Anu has built high performing engineering teams from the ground up and steered large-scale projects in Data, ML, Web, e-Commerce and Mobile technologies for companies such as Uber, Groupon, Shutterfly, and Adobe. Anu strongly believes in having an entrepreneurial mindset and in helping others to reach their potential. A few years back, in her spare time, she co-founded a company and released a social entertainment app “IntoMovies”. She also volunteers for a number of charitable organizations and STEM programs.
Asha Gohil, FinTech leader
Asha Gohil is a FinTech leader with success at scaling fast growing products including digital tools and websites. Asha Gohil has over 20 years of experience in the financial services and software development industry. She has extensive experience in international line management having directly managed a global staff across three continents at leading financial services firms - BlackRock, Barclays Global Investors (BGI), Morgan Stanley (MSCI), CSFB and Wells Fargo. Asha earned her MBA from The Wharton School, and holds a BA in Finance from Northern Arizona University - The W.A. Franke College of Business.
Andrea Tegstam, Executive Recruiter, Westwood & Wilshire
Andrea Tegstam is an Executive Recruiter with Westwood & Wilshire. She brings a wealth of international business consulting and market research experience to the firm and most recently worked as Sr. Technical Recruiter helping Silicon Valley start-ups grow their teams. With multilingual and multicultural skills and a keen interest in both technology and people, Andrea has a track record of successful placements in start-ups varying from SaaS, Big Data, Data Science, VR, Gaming, Digital Health and Blockchain Technology. She holds a BSc. in Business Administration and Economics from Lund University, Sweden and also is a graduate of the European Union Executive Training Program, Japan. While home is now the SF Bay Area, Andrea was raised in Sweden, and lived for 15 years in Japan and Spain. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, yoga, Japanese cultural events, creating jewelry, traveling, and exploring the local wine country with family and friends.
Wesley Burwell, Director, Talent Acquisition & Development, Global Blood Therapeutics
Wes has close to 20 years of experience in HR and Talent Acquisition. He has been described as a “talent magnet” with an innate ability to match the perfect candidate for a position.Since 2015, Wes has been leading the Talent Acquisition function at Global Blood Therapeutics to over 4x growth and transition from R&D to commercialization. As a Founder of PharmaTrust (biopharma recruitment) in 2002, he has helped scale a variety of strong-growth startups and public company clients, primarily in biotech/research. Wes also served as Director of Talent for SwitchFly (travel e-commerce platform) between 2009 and 2014 and Adjunct Professor – Human Resource Programs at the Golden Gate University from 2008 – 2011. Wes holds a BBA degree in Human Resources from Golden Gate University and an Executive MBA from University of San Francisco School of Management.
