We invite you to join the event for CLUB members to discover the path and inspiration to the boardroom. This candid discussion will focus on why serve on nonprofit boards and how to leverage these opportunities to enrich your life personally and professionally.

This event will consist of a panel discussion featuring Delida Costin, former general counsel at lynda.com (purchased by Microsoft) and Pandora Media, Maya Tussing, principal at Alesco Advisors, Karineh Khachatourian, managing partner of Duane Morris’ Silicon Valley office and Watermark board member, and Nancy Poon Lue, education sector strategist, operator, and investor with NewSchools Venture Fund. The event will be hosted by Olga V. Mack, founder of Women Serve on Board movement and General Counsel at ClearSlide, Inc.

Delida Costin served as general counsel at lynda.com (purchased by Microsoft) and Pandora Media. Her career also includes extensive service on non-profit boards or with non-profit projects.  In April she joined the board of the Independent Television Service, public media’s leading incubator and presenter of independent film.  She has served as vice president on the Oakland Symphony's board and as chair of the board at Lincoln which provides preventative, individualized and comprehensive support services to disrupt cycles of poverty and trauma.  She was also on the board of Techbridge, an Oakland-based organization dedicated to expanding academic and career options for girls in STEM. During her career she has worked to ensure that prisoners have access to law libraries, taught English to Hmong kids, won political asylum for a Haitian family, served as a sexual assault hotline crisis counselor, and advocated for sexual assault survivors as they interacted with medical and law enforcement personnel.

Maya Tussing co-leads the San Francisco office of Alesco Advisors, an SEC-registered investment advisory firm servicing the investment needs of institutions, foundations and high net worth individuals. Previously, she led BlackRock’s U.S. Institutional Index Asset Allocation business, responsible for over $200B across all asset classes, investment styles and vehicles. Over the last 20 years, Maya has held senior risk management roles at firms such as BlackRock, Barclays Global Investors, Visa, and GE Capital. Maya is a graduate of Pomona College and holds an MBA in international finance from the University of Washington. Maya is active in the Bay Area community, serving as the Board Finance Chair of BizWorld.org and on the advisory board for How Women Lead. She previously served on the board of PlayGround.

Karineh Khachatourian is the Managing Partner of Duane Morris’ Silicon Valley office and serves on the Firm’s governing Partner’s Board.  Karineh is an IP litigator, and through her vast network and experience, in short, solves her clients problems.  Ms. Khachatourian is committed to advancing women and diverse lawyers in the legal profession, working tirelessly with various professional organizations, including Watermark, Chips, the Club, Leading Women in Technology, Salonnieres, and IP Counsel Café.  Her work in the legal community has been recognized by Watermark, the Recorder, the Daily Journal, and the Silicon Valley Business Journal.  In 2016, Karineh received Duane Morris’ Cheryl Bryson Leadership Award in recognition of her significant contributions internally and outside the Firm to women in the profession.

Nancy Poon Lue is an education sector strategist, operator, and investor who is leading the exploratory launch of a national education research and development entity on behalf of a group of funders.  Previously, she was Executive Director at Global Silicon Valley where she oversaw the venture capital firm’s education portfolio and network partnerships as well as its early stage incubator.   Nancy also served in the Obama Administration as a senior official at the U.S. Department of Education where she led all of the federal agency’s strategic planning and performance management initiatives. Nancy has served on more than a dozen non-profit boards and advisory committees and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund, College Track, and the Harvard First Generation Alumni Association.
